The Theory Picture Analysis (TPA) is to be understood as a reflection technique for the promotion of professional competence, the application of which is to intensify the subject-specific thinking ability of psychotherapy training candidates. Especially for future psychotherapists it is essential that they develop theory-consistent ways of understanding psychotherapeutic situations. In this article, the basic idea and methodology of TPA are presented for the first time, which were only recently conceived in the disciplinary framework of experimental psychotherapy science at Sigmund Freud University in Vienna.
