Offers on the "therapy market" that run under the label "trauma therapy" have been experiencing a real boom for several years. They rarely declare themselves to be school-specific in a narrower sense, so that we often cannot define them as "disciplinary versions". In most cases, we find "forms of therapy" that work with (or generate) conceptual systems that either do not belong to any school of therapy, are explicitly linked to several schools of therapy, or generate conceptual systems that are (supposed to be) valid for all versions of psychotherapy. It is also observable that in common trauma therapies, a therapeutic approach is almost consistently used, which is mostly labeled with the term "parts work". In individual psychology there is no school-specific version of trauma theory/trauma therapy or of "parts work" to date. In this article, which will appear in two parts, basic features of a specifically individualpsychological trauma theory/trauma therapy and parts work will be presented on the basis of a specific constellation of paradigms.
